The Culag Community Woodland Trust was initially set up to improve the management and public access of the Culag Wood, which covers 36 hectares on the south side of Lochinver, Assynt. The CCWT has recently acquired Little Assynt Estate (1200 ha) a few miles east of Lochinver, and now employs two part-time project officer.

The Culag Wood has been transformed over the past few years, with wind-blown parts cleared and replanted, and public access made easier through establishment of a network of paths, trails, benches and car-parks. The purchase of a wood-miser has made it possible to mill the extracted timber form the wood and to train local operators. The wood also includes a woodland play-area for small children, and many interesting features!
