North Highland Forest Trust
Who are we?
What does NHFT do?
-
We promote
community management of woodlands
by providing expert advice and direct assistance with management plans and funding
applications.
-
We promote
new woodland creation, and restoration of existing
woodlands, by providing community groups and common grazings groups with site surveys, costed proposals and assistance
with funding applications.
-
We promote
local utilisation of timber
through helping to set up pilot projects, organising demonstrations and finding
funding for training.
-
We aim to promote a "wood culture"
in the North through all of the above work and by supporting networks of
community woodland groups and wood users through our
publications,
annual forum and training events.
Who can we help?
-
We are keen to hear from communities, groups, common grazings
etc who wish to become involved in woodland management,
establishment or timber utilisation.
-
We will always try to give advice or assistance. However,
priority is given to those projects which are community focused
and which emphasise wider environmental
considerations, local employment and public amenity.
