Rural Skills for Schools North Highland Forest Trust is one of 67 partners working with Highland Council to deliver the Rural Skills curriculum. The Trust is currently involved with Golspie High School in teaching skills to 13-16 year olds across a wide range of activities, from path maintenance, tree planting, fencing, landscaping to drystone dyking. The students receive their training out on site on a weekly basis for a half-day, with the activities being varied throughout the school year. Wood Fuel Rural Development Initiatives are running woodfuel training throughout Scotland.  The Ignite programme has been designed for those:

  • wishing to expand their knowledge of woodfuel as a natural energy source

  • considering setting up a woodfuel supply business

  • who would like to find out more about woodfuel use

FCS Wood Fuel Officers The Forestry Commission has Wood Fuel officers responsible for developing sustainable wood fuel supply and supply chain development throughout Scotland.
